Broadcom Automic SaaS or SovereignCloud4Automic (SC4A)? On 17 September 2026, best-blu, BTC AG and Tricise put the two ways of running Automic in the cloud side by side in one 45-minute session: hosting and data location, compliance and operations, the criteria that actually decide, and a live demo of SC4A.

- Hosts: best-blu with BTC AG and Tricise
Why this comparison matters
More and more teams are asking how they want to run Automic going forward. SaaS cuts operational overhead, but not all SaaS is the same. Hosting location, who operates the platform and what “sovereign” means in practice rarely get a direct, side-by-side airing.
This session fixes that. Broadcom‘s Automic SaaS and best-blu’s SovereignCloud4Automic are presented to the same audience, back to back, so the trade-offs are visible rather than argued in isolation. SC4A runs on STACKIT, the European sovereign-cloud platform, and is operated from Germany; BTC AG demos it live. Tricise takes part as Broadcom’s Automic partner and presents the Broadcom side, the same operating-model question behind our Tricise service tiers for Automic.
Five questions the session answers
Both models promise less operational overhead. Where they differ is in the details that matter to regulated industries, and those are exactly the points the speakers put side by side:
- Where does the data live? Which data centers, which jurisdiction, and what that means for GDPR, sector regulation and internal audit.
- Who operates the platform? Vendor team, partner team or your own people, and who holds administrative access to the Automic Automation Engine.
- What is included in the service? Backup, managed database, separate test and production systems, security fixes, service packs, major upgrades and support hours.
- How do upgrades and releases work? Who sets the cadence, how much notice you get, and how a release like Automic V26 reaches your tenant.
- What does “sovereign” mean in practice? Ownership of the cloud provider, applicable law, exit options and how independent you remain from a single vendor.
What you’ll take away
- A direct comparison of Broadcom Automic SaaS and SC4A, feature by feature and model by model
- The real differences in hosting, operations, service scope and digital sovereignty
- Decision criteria you can map onto your own compliance and operating requirements
- A live demo of SovereignCloud4Automic: what a fully managed Automic environment in a sovereign cloud looks like day to day
Agenda
- Welcome and framing: why the operating model for Automic is on the table now
- Broadcom Automic SaaS: hosting, operations, service model (Günther Flamm, Tricise)
- SovereignCloud4Automic on STACKIT: hosting, compliance, digital sovereignty (best-blu, BTC AG)
- Live demo of SC4A (Andreas Jähnichen, best-blu)
- Decision criteria and open Q&A with all speakers
Who should attend
- IT operations, automation and platform teams already running Automic
- Decision-makers weighing compliance and digital-sovereignty requirements against the operational case for SaaS
- Teams still undecided between a SaaS migration and staying on-premises: the session is built around the decision criteria, not a single vendor’s pitch
If you have followed our coverage of Automic V26, this session is the operating-model counterpart to that feature view.
How to get the most out of 45 minutes
The format is compact on purpose. You get more out of it if you bring three things: the number of Automic clients and agents you run today, the compliance requirements your platform has to meet (data residency, audit, sector rules), and the one operational task that costs your team the most time. Put your questions in the Teams chat as they come up; the speakers pick them up in the closing Q&A.
